Barry Goldstein is an internationally known domestic violence author, speaker and advocate. He has worked in the movement to end men’s violence against women for 33 years. He is the author of some of the leading books about domestic violence and custody. The books are based on current scientific research. His books include two volumes of Domestic Violence, Abuse and Child Custody. co-edited with Dr. Mo Therese Hannah, Representing the Domestic Violence Survivor, co-authored with Elizabeth Liu, Scared to Leave Afraid to Stay and his recent book, The Quincy Solution, Stop Domestic Violence and Save $500 Billion.
The Quincy Solution is a group of best practices based on current research that will dramatically reduce domestic violence crime. It is based on successful practices in communities like Quincy, San Diego and Nashville. In Quincy, a community that averaged 5-6 homicides enjoyed several years with no murders. It is based on important medical research called the ACE (Adverse Childhood Experiences) Studies. The research demonstrates that domestic violence is far more consequential to children than previously realized and physical assaults are not necessary to cause enormous harm. It is the fear engendered by abusers that lead to the worst form of stress that cause many serious illnesses and social problems throughout the child’s life. It also demonstrates that it costs society many billions in health and other costs so there are enormous human costs and economic costs.
Bill Delahunt, the District Attorney who helped create the original Quincy Model noticed that victims stopped cooperating when their abusers sought custody. This did not derail the success in Quincy because at the time these tactics were rare. Today it is a standard abuser practice to seek custody to regain control over their victims and undermine domestic violence laws. Unfortunately the family courts don’t recognize this so Barry created the Safe Child Act to include custody courts as part of the solution. It requires courts to make the health and safety of children as the first priority in all custody and visitation decisions and seeks to integrate current scientific research and trauma-informed approaches.
The Quincy Solution can be implemented in any community or country and the Safe Child Act should be used to improve custody courts. Barry works with the Stop Abuse Campaign as their Director of Research. The Campaign seeks to prevent adverse childhood experiences and implement the Quincy Solution and the Safe Child Act.

So what is a Protective Mother? A Protective Mother tries to protect her child or children from their abusive father by many means necessary, which is an uphill battle in today’s corrupt global Family Court system that thrives on paternal entitlement. Maternal Deprivation at the hands of abusive fathers has reached pandemic proportions! However, Protective Mothers worldwide are uniting to fight for the right to keep their children in what could be called a new Civil Rights movement.
Professional Fine Artist and College Professor Geerte Frenken is a Protective Mother fighting for her court-abducted daughter Jasmijn. She is the host of the CCN Live TV show HELL IS FOR CHILDREN about the global plight of Protective Mothers and their children that airs every Saturday at 3PM Eastern Standard Time (21:00 Central European Time). Recordings of the shows are made available via youtube within a few days after each Live broadcast and are archived HERE as well.
