Melisa Nielsen

Melisa Nielsen is a Waldorf homeschooling mom to five children ages 5yrs to 19yrs. One of her children chose public school in 10th grade and transitioned beautifully. Melisa has always written her own curriculum and began coaching families about 10 years ago after the birth of her 4th child. She and her husband, Erik, are a team, they write Waldorf curriculum for the homeschooler and Melisa is also a life and family coach, helping families reach their goals spiritually and with relationships. They have two businesses, Waldorf Essentials that is homeschooling focused and going strong, and Parent Who T.H.R.I.V.E. that is focused on family and relationships, it is in the building phase and they have great dreams for it.

Victor Garza

Maestro Victor studied Business Administration and worked in the movie industry for nine years as a Production Engineer in Hollywood. He became a language teacher in Oaxaca, Mexico and has worked in many different settings since then: universities, language schools, art schools, and high schools. He has taught history, dance, art, and languages. He received his Waldorf Teacher Training Certificate in 2008 and has been teaching at Portland Waldorf School since 2004. Alternative education and art are his passions.

Rebecka Koritz

Rebecka Koritz is a school entrepreneur, pedagogical visionary and harsh school critic. She is an author, lecturer and former language teacher. For fifteen years she has been training teachers and giving workshops for parents, teachers and psychologists. The last seven years she’s dedicated herself to starting up and running several alternative educational projects: Papalotes in Oaxaca (2009) and Papalotes in Puerto Escondido (2012) – both Waldorf initiatives, La Casita – a Waldorf inspired kindergarten and Explora – an Agile Learning Center in the form of a youth club/after-school program (both 2016).

In June 2016 her book A School From Scratch was published in Swedish in Sweden. It is, on one hand, the exciting story about the challenging journey of starting up alternative schools in one of the poorest states in Mexico. On the other hand it provides the reader with some serious philosophical reflections on the theme “why do we have schools, and for whom?”. Rebecka is originally from Sweden, but has lived in Mexico since 2003 where she can freely unschool her son who has Asperger’s syndrome.
